I decided a little over a year ago that I wanted to be a Speech Language Pathologist. I investigated the steps necessary to become an SLP, and one of the stepping stones is this class. Technology, while cool, does not hold any sort of opinion from me. Well, that's not true...I think both good and bad things come from it, but I like it more than not. I'm pretty open to anything new, and that includes technology.
The portion of the CSUSM College of Education Mission Statement that mean the most to me, is their dedication to " collaboratively transform public education by preparing thoughtful educators and advancing professional practices." I want to be one of those thoughful educators. Often times people get into a profession and it becomes a mindless, repetitive and unfulfilling job. In order for both myself and the children to feel rewarded, I will have to take the reins and not fall "into the grind" and continuously be thoughful. While this mission statement is a powerful one, it was not a deciding factor on whether or not I would attend CSUSM.
Until then, it's "back to the grind" at my 7-5:30. :)
Hi Nikki,
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't feel ashamed for going to Palomar for 6 years! In fact, you should be proud! Just think of all the knowledge and life experience you gained from those 6 years! All that experience and knowledge you will be able to bring into your classroom. Think of it as a blessing :)
Hi Nikki!
ReplyDeleteDon't be ashamed of being at Palomar for 6 years. It happens! I have a similar experience there too. I didn't know what I wanted to do so I ended up there for 4 years. I too was ashamed at first, but now that I look back my life is so amazing because of it! I wouldn't be where I am today without spending the time there. I'm sure if you look at it that way you will feel the same!! :)
Hi Nikki!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm also going to comment about your 6 years at Palomar.. haha, didn't realize the others had too... For me, I defintely understand because I did the same thing! I'm just glad that I spent those years figuring out my life for waaaaay cheaper tuition than here! Good luck in the course!
Hey Nikki,
ReplyDeleteI went to Poway High School! Great district!
